The Year of Mathematics was a great project on 31.12. 2008 ended.
math-maker was a "participatory" initiative of the year of mathematics. In 2009, then the initiative under the umbrella of the German Mathematical Association continue or to put it better in Web-Speak "hosted". The math makers are linked from the homepage of the DMV and it is still the "Maths artist of the month" award.
were in the last quarter of 2009, all three nominations for mathematical "public relations" during pre predominantly individual exposures of people were excellent, their occupation is not the field of marketing science. I think this is a little sad. Certainly mathematics professional marketing is doing very well (and I like the mathematics advent calendar too). But the math makers were a classic "Community Building" project: a decentralized, self-initiative, brought together on a central presentation platform.
It's hard to keep a former project initiative such as the math-maker in continuous operation running, but the Web offers a chance for it. I will start blogging about this or other mathematical topic in this blog and math-makers would be happy if a lot of math makers continue their commitment.
PS: 2007 was the Year of the Humanities . 2009 was the Year of Astronomy . Does anyone know the year 2010? Answer: The year of energy , hmmm ...
